Are you for or against the death penalty?
I'm against.
Sure, if the person has done something so immoral as to murder, then he should pay for his deeds. But what if the person is really sorry about it? Even if the murderer is killed/hanged, the dead will not come back to life. He will not be revived just because his murderer is killed. Ultimately, it's not about the punishment, is it? It's about someone knowing his/her mistake and turning over a new leaf.
Youngsters who go against the law are sent to a rehabitation center, to think about their mistakes and know that what they are doing is wrong. Don't we have the "Second Chance" thing for ex-criminals too?
Also, if the criminal is to be sent to death sentence because he took another's life, then who gives the jury the right to decide if the criminal lives or dies? Is he not then guilty of the same crime? Justice does not give you this right. Tradition does not give you this right. Morals do no give you this right. However much law does, the law is man-made. Things made by imperfect people can never be perfect.
What more, happens to the executioner? Is he guilty of depriving another of his life? Yes, he's doing his job, yes, but isn't against morals to decapitate another?
I mean, I'm sure there's a reason why some countries are against the death penalty, right?
Sure, on the other hand, there are more points too, but ultimately, it is your beliefs that guide you to follow whichever side you follow.
